Relaxations during :Lockdown 3 in India
3rd Phase of lockdown (May 4-17) saw a number of relaxations to the public such as opening shops for a longer time in non-containment zones (green zones) and bringing strnded Indians abroad by special flights, running Shramik Spacial trains to ferry stranded migrant workers in India. One of the painful sights these days is to see a large number of migrant workers walking towards their home town as they are left with not much money for survival and they wish to at least reach back their own home with a shelter. A large number of stories have surfaced about the migrant worker crisis.
The number of cases went up in Chennai suddenly due to a vegetable market (Koembedu). the market was closed and has now been shifted to another place with proper arrangements. There was some crisis of vegetables during last one week. The very essential item such as green coriander and green chillies were not available, nor were the oranges.
In any case, there are other side of the story related to opening of "other" shops. Those shops apparently contribute to the large mount of money to the government and were closed since March 24th 2020. These shops attaract large nbumber of people irrespective of their identity. Therefore a long Q's without social distancing were seen. Finally the court had to close the shops the next day followed by the governement requesting again to open it and so on.
